History of 21st in Germantown
21st in Germantown opened in 2019, taking over a bar that traces itself back to 1887. The building originally housed Zeigler’s Saloon and Grocery, with the Zeigler family themselves living upstairs. Frank Zeigler was a prominent businessman in the community, holding the position of Vice President of Falls City Brewing Company. Zeigler’s Saloon and Grocery stayed open through Prohibition, remaining in the Zeigler family for 97 years before being sold in 1984.
Relics from the past spread throughout 21st in Germantown, such as an antique time clock and a vintage jukebox. Look out for the antique doll found during a renovation upstairs, hidden behind a wall. Now sitting behind the bar, a donation cup sits in front of it to ward off any evil spirits. The dance floor itself is salvaged from the historic Fontaine Ferry Amusement Park’s roller skating rink, which closed in 1969.
